NJSIPT Spring Meeting and Election Results

For those who were unable to attend our meeting on 3/13/10, we wish to update you of some recent changes on your Board of Directors.  There were 3 Board positions up for election at this meeting, and the results of this election are listed below:
Vice President-David Bertone
Treasurer-Jeff Snyder
Director of Membership-Brian Mullins
It was announced at the meeting that NJSIPT President Mark Schwall was resigning for personal reasons at conclusion of business on Saturday.  This means that David Bertone assumes the remainder of the Mark’s term through Spring 2011.  The position of President-elect will be up for election at our Fall meeting this year.  This means that the position of Vice President is now be considered vacant.
In addition, since Brian Mullins was fulfilling the remainder of the term as Director of Marketing and Public Relations and has now been elected as director of Membership, the Director of Marketing and Public Relations is now also be considered vacant.
As per NJSIPT bylaws, the Board has the responsibility to fill these 2 vacant positions with qualified candidates from the membership.  If you are interested in serving in one of these Board positions, we would ask that you contact us directly at info@njsipt.com  , or by contacting Dave Bertone at dbertone@njsipt.com.  In the meantime, the Board will be actively soliciting members about serving in these positions until they are filled by either appointment or election.

Reminder: NJSIPT Spring Meeting and Continuing Education

This is a reminder that registration for “FUNctional Finance for Physical Therapy” closes on Wednesday, March 3, 2010. This course has been submitted to the NJBPTE for approval for 4 CEU’s.

Please don’t miss an opportunity to attend this course!  The speaker, Charles Felder, PT, SCS, MBA, has 33 years of experience in physical therapy including 20 years as a practice owner.  He specializes in assisting health care practice owners in managing the business aspects of their practices.

If you are having difficulty in this current economic environment, it is imperative that you attend this course and see if there are tools that you are not utilizing that may be available to you.  If you are not struggling, them maybe you can be doing even better, and if you are new to owning a business or want to own one, you should attend so that you can learn ways how to improve your financial status.

In addition, we will be discussing the Society’s strategic plan for the upcoming year. If you are a member, we urge you to attend our business meeting so that you can hear what the Society is and will be doing for you. You will have an opportunity to ask questions and hear answers to other members’ questions.  Our legislative agents, our PAR, and our legal counsel will all be present to speak about what is happening in the legislative, legal and regulatory arenas that may affect your business practice.

We will hold an open forum for all attendees after lunch.  We did this at our last conference and it was well received.  This will be held in the style of a Town Hall Meeting where we will entertain everyone’s questions.  This is a unique opportunity for anyone who is not a member to learn about the Society and to hear about issues that may be impacting you or that will impact you.

Registration for the business meeting begins at 8:00 am, and the meeting will begin promptly at 8:30 am.  We will break at 10:30 and the course will begin at 10:45.  If you are not attending the closed business meeting, please arrive between 10:15 and 10:45 to register and sign in for the course.  The conference concludes at 4 pm.  Some members and staff of the NJSIPT Board of Directors will be staying at the bar in Longhorn’s Restaurant, located on the hotel’s premises, to socialize and network with you following. Please look for us there.  For directions go to: http://www.hamptoninnwoodbridge.com/

Welcome to the New NJSIPT Website

As you hopefully have noticed the NJSIPT website has undergone a dramatic change.  While the most apparent changes are cosmetic, there are a lot of "under the hood" changes that provides the Society with a website that is easier to manage and to expand services to NJSIPT members, our non-member colleagues and consumers looking for information on Physical Therapy in the Garden State.

If you have not already you should be receiving your updated username and password information.  If you have difficulty logging in, please email me at mfschwall@njsipt.com and we'll make sure you are able to login.

We hope you like the changes and your comments or suggestions on how we might improve the website to your benefit are always welcome.
